Ryanair rooms

Friday, June 17, 2016

Ryanair has announced plans to muscle in on the holiday lettings market and compete with the likes of Airbnb by offering a wide range of places to stay for its tens of millions of customers.

Europe’s biggest airline, by passenger numbers, plans to launch the new Ryanair room’s service from October onwards and could see potential guests staying in places ranging from five start hotels to spare rooms in private houses.

The airline, that already partners exclusively with Booking.com, plans on forging more partnerships to help find customers a room to stay.

Chief marketing officer, Kenny Jacobs, said: “We see this as a natural progression towards Ryanair.com becoming the Amazon of air travel.”

With the four largest companies controlling a market share of 25 percent between them, there is plenty of room for Ryanair to move into.
