Thomas Cook passengers stranded onboard aircraft for hours on end

Close to 300 passengers found themselves stuck on board an aircraft for nearly four hours, as they waited for their flight to depart.
The Thomas Cook flight was scheduled to leave Manchester airport for the island of Kos on Sunday afternoon, when a technical error occurred, preventing the aircraft from taking off. More than 270 passengers were forced to remain onboard for over three and a half hours, with cabin temperatures reaching well over 25 ℃.
After a failed attempt to repair the aircraft, the flight was eventually cancelled. Passengers were escorted off the plane and set up in a hotel overnight before departing for Kos the next morning (Monday 6th June).
Delays and cancellations caused by technical faults are generally eligible for compensation under Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004. Were you on flight DE1724 ?
