Flight delayed as passengers refuse to sit next to women
Friday, January 2, 2015
Earlier this month, two ultra-orthodox jews refuse to sit next to women, causing a flight delay. The incident happened on a flight from New York to Israel. The two men refused to sit between female passengers.
The airline tried to find new seats for the women who insisted on leaving the aircraft as they felt discriminated against. The flight finally took off half an hour later as a fellow passenger offered to switch places whereupon the flight was able to continue after all. An israeli newspaper reported that similar incidents had occured in the past year whereby female passengers were even offered money to sit elsewhere.
