The police reported on Tuesday that the girl remains a suspect. Rotterdam police reported via Twitter that the 14-year-old thought to make a "joke” and reported to American Airlines that the tweet was not meant seriously. The girl was interrogated and allowed to leave the Police Office after she had been arrested earlier. The police announced in a tweet that the investigation had not been completed.

The girl had sent a tweet on Sunday to the account of the U.S. airline. Here she wrote: “Hello, my name is Ibrahim and I’m from Afghanistan. I’m part of Al Qaida and on june 1st I’m gonna do something really big, bye." American Airlines responded almost immediately. They answered that they take these issues very seriously, and that the IP address and other details will be forwarded to the FBI.

Last Monday, the girl reported herself to the police in Rotterdam, where she was arrested but afterwards released from custody and sent back home. She regrets her action and the tweet has since been removed.
