Tuesday, June 12, 2018

Focused on achieving a work-life balance that will contribute to their pilots satisfaction with their jobs, Brussels Airlines has proposed new working conditions to its group of pilots. The new working conditions were drawn up by a joint table of Brussels Airlines management and representatives from the union. The negotiation went on for weeks and took on some in depth topics. The new conditions will be presented to the entire body of pilots who will have to approve it by referendum.

The new deal focuses on improving and balancing the current conditions regarding their working hours and resting hours. The changes made focus on increasing the work-life balance of the whole pilot workforce. It also includes a renegotiation of their pension plan. It is forseen that these new conditions will require a considerable investment from the company. Brussels Airlines expects an agreement of the new working conditions by the pilots.

75% of all Brussels Airlines flights were cancelled or delayed because the pilots went on strike

The news of the new proposal have been welcomed by the pilots, whom just some weeks earlier called a strike rejecting the current conditions and the proposal previously made by Brussels Airlines. The strike took place on May the 14th and 16th and saw 75% of all the airline’s flights either cancelled or delayed.
