Stuck in paradise: Technical difficulties leave hundreds of Thomson passengers stranded

Uk-based travel operator Thomson was forced to cancel two its flights out of Mexico this week due to technical difficulties. The Boeing 787 dreamliners Tom39 and Tom49 were scheduled to leave Cancun airport on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, when both aircrafts were deemed unfit to fly.

Hundreds of passengers left stranded

According to passengers on the Tuesday flight, there seems to have been an issue with the machine’s brakes. After hours of waiting at the airport, passengers were provided with the equivalent of a £ 5 voucher and sent back to the hotel. Travellers were mostly disappointed by the lack of communication as they were not provided with updates on the situation.
In a statement, a Thomson spokesperson declared: “'The safety of our customers and crew is of paramount importance and we would like to once again apologise to customers for this delay.”
