Your flight arrived at the final destination at least 3 hours behind schedule, AND,
The reason for your flight delay was within the control of the airline.
You may not be entitled to compensation if the delay was caused by “Extraordinary Circumstances” outside of the airline’s control.
In case your Opodo flight was cancelled, you can claim either flight compensation, a complete monetary refund or even both under specific conditions. Keep reading to find out more about those conditions.

In case your Opodo flight is cancelled, you may also qualify for a flight refund provided that:
The airline proposed you an alternative flight that you declined, OR,
The airline did not offer you any alternate flight at all.
It is strongly advised not to accept vouchers provided by airlines in case your Opodo flight is cancelled, as it might restrict your future flying options and have a redemption deadline. Additionally, you may have trouble retrieving your money if the airline goes bankrupt.
The compensation amount is determined by the distance covered by your flight and is paid per passenger.
For flights shorter than 1,500 km, the compensation is £220.
For flights between 1,500 and 3,500 km, the compensation is £350.
For flights of over 1,500 kilometres within the EU, the compensation is also £350.
For flights of over 3,500 kilometres outside of the EU, the compensation is £520 —but if your flight was delayed by fewer than 4 hours, the total amount might be reduced by 50%.
Even if your flight was delayed for more than 3 hours or cancelled less than 14 days prior to the scheduled departure, the airline may decline to pay you compensation if your flight was disrupted due to extraordinary circumstances. These circumstances are occurrences beyond the airline's control, caused by a third party or unforeseeable events.
Below are some examples of the most frequent extraordinary circumstances:
Bad weather conditions, such as thick fog, heavy rain, or thunderstorms.
A strike, most often specifically within the aviation industry (for example, a strike of air traffic control workers at a specific airport).
However, a strike of the airline's crew is not considered an extraordinary circumstance!
Political circumstances, such as a terrorist attack or general security risk due to political unrest.
Natural disasters, including volcanic eruptions and hurricanes.
A collision between the aircraft and birds or other foreign objects.
An ill or unruly passenger.
Flight delays caused by the airport staff, such as extraordinarily long queues to security checks.
