If you were on a Freebird Airlines flight from the UK/EU that was cancelled or delayed, your rights as an air passenger are protected by European and British law. In some situations, you may be entitled to up to £520 in compensation from Freebird Airlines, as well as a full refund for your cancelled Freebird Airlines flight.
Was your Freebird Airlines flight delayed? If your flight was delayed by a minimum of 3 hours, you may be eligible for flight compensation.
Was your Freebird Airlines flight cancelled? You have the right to a refund if you decline the airline's substitute flight. Furthermore, if your flight was cancelled within 14 days of departure, you may be entitled to Freebird Airlines flight compensation.
Whatever the source of the flight disruption, airlines are required by law to provide specific assistance to passengers, which is known as the "right to care." Food and beverage vouchers, communication services and, if necessary, lodging and transportation are included. Claim the vouchers at the airport's airline service desk, and if they decline, buy what you need nonetheless because they are compelled by law to repay you for those expenditures (as long as they are reasonable).
You cannot claim flight compensation if your flight cancellation or delay was caused by an "extraordinary circumstance." The airline has to be responsible for the flight disruption to compensate passengers.
To be eligible for Freebird Airlines flight compensation, your flight must have departed from the United Kingdom or Europe.
Unfortunately, your passengers' rights are not protected under British and European flight compensation regulations when departing from a non-EU/non-UK airport on a non-EU/non-UK airline. See the table below for more information on when you may be entitled to flight compensation as a UK/EU air passenger.
|Type of flight||Example||Compensation|
|Flying with a British carrier||Tokyo to London with British Airways||Yes|
|Flying with a EU carrier||Amsterdam to London with KLM||Yes|
|Flying with a non-UK/non-EU carrier from the UK||London to Tokyo with Japan Airlines||Yes|
|Flying with a non-UK/non-EU carrier to the UK||Tokyo to London with Japan Airlines||No|
If a Freebird flight from the UK/EU is delayed for more than 3 hours, you are entitled to flight compensation under British and European flight compensation regulations. The airline must be the party at fault for the delay.

If your Freebird Airlines flight was cancelled less than 14 days before the scheduled departure date, you might be entitled to compensation if you did not take another flight.
To be eligible for compensation, Freebird Airlines must be at fault for the cancellation. For more information, see the "Extraordinary Circumstances" section of this article.
If your Freebird Airlines flight from the UK/EU got cancelled, you can get a refund if:
The airline did not offer you an alternative flight
The airline did offer you an alternative flight, but you decided not to take it

|Fewer than 7 days in advance||Departs 1h+ earlier or arrived 2h+ later||Yes|

|Fewer than 14 days in advance||No alternative flight offered||Yes + refund|

If you booked both flights as part of one reservation and the delay or cancellation fits the conditions, you may be eligible for compensation and/or a ticket refund under UK/EU air passenger rights legislation.
Check the status of your flight before departing for the airport to be prepared for any unexpected changes to your schedule. You can always stay updated on your Freebird Airlines flight by going to the airline's, airport's, or flight tracker's websites.
You might get Freebird Airlines compensation if your delayed or cancelled flight departed (or was scheduled to depart) from the UK/EU. The amount of compensation is determined by the distance of your flight:
When a third party or force majeure causes a delay or cancellation, Freebird Airlines has the right to refuse compensation. These are referred to as extraordinary circumstances.
The following are some of the most common extraordinary circumstances:
Bad weather conditions, such as thick fog, heavy rain, or thunderstorms.
A strike, most often specifically within the aviation industry (for example, a strike of air traffic control workers at a specific airport).
However, a strike of the airline's crew is not considered an extraordinary circumstance!
Political circumstances, such as a terrorist attack or general security risk due to political unrest.
Natural disasters, including volcanic eruptions and hurricanes.
A collision between the aircraft and birds or other foreign objects.
An ill or unruly passenger.
Flight delays caused by the airport staff, such as extraordinarily long queues to security checks.
However, airlines will sometimes claim that an extraordinary circumstance occurred, even if this was not the case. They do this to avoid having to pay out compensation.
If you flew from the United Kingdom, you have 6 years to submit your flight compensation and a refund claim. The only exception is Scotland, where you have 5 years to file a claim.
Passengers who use Flight-Delayed.co.uk to claim flight compensation or a refund usually receive their money within a few weeks or months.
