Q: Hey Austin, I was recently delayed on a flight at Gatwick Airport. During my flight's delay, I was offered food, drinks and accommodation. Am I still entitled to compensation for my delay?
Austin: Hi there!, in the event of a flight delay, your airline is required to offer you care; e.g. food, drinks and accommodation. It seems this was done in your case!
Fortunately for you, this care is irrespective of your entitlement to compensation for your delayed flight. So the refreshments and other care you received does not mean that you’re no longer entitled to receive financial compensation.
However, if your airline offered you travel vouchers or a discount to be used on an entirely new trip, accepting this could mean that you might surrender your rights to further compensation. Thankfully, it doesn’t sound like this applies to your situation! Therefore, you are probably entitled to compensation. If your claim has already been rejected, or if you’d prefer us taking care of all the hassle to begin with, you can submit a claim with Flight-delayed.co.uk. We will try our utmost best to deliver your flight compensation as soon as possible.
Best wishes,
Austin from Flight-delayed.co.uk
