Friday, February 12, 2016

Its that time of year again: Valentine's day. For all those looking to whisk their loved ones away for a romantic weekend, we’ve got some inspiration.

5. Paris
We’ll start with the obvious. Known as one of the most romantic cities in the world, Paris is always a good idea. Stroll through the Jardin du Luxembourg, the famous quartier latin or go on a romantic cruise along the Seine.

4. Amsterdam
Often referred to as Venice of the North, Amsterdam can be just as romantic a destination as its Southern counterpart. Treat yourselves to a romantic stay on one of the many houseboats, with a gorgeous view of the Amstel river or indulge in a candlelight canal cruise.

3. Glasgow
Scotland's most populated city was recently named one of the top 20 destinations in the world for 2016. What better occasion to visit than the valentine’s weekend?! Take in the stunning Victorian architecture or visit the city’s many art galleries and exhibitions. Not to be missed: Daily walking tours of the famous whisky factory.

4. Vienna
Famous for its elegant coffee houses and pompous architecture, Austria’s capital is a true gem and easily one of Europe’s most romantic cities. Travelling in February also increases chances of snow which only adds to romance. Due to the numerous composers and musicians, Vienna is also deemed one of the world’s most musical capitals. Experience the world of Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and many more.

5. Düsseldorf
Cheap flights to Weeze airport make Düsseldorf an appealing valentine’s day destination. Home to the glamorous boulevard Königsallee, this city leaves nothing to be desired when it comes to shopping. Take a break from retail therapy in one of the many cafes along the Rhine embankment boulevard.
