Planning a holiday? We‘ll tell you the best times to travel as well as when it’s best to stay home.

Thanksgiving: Travelling to, from or within the US? The thanksgiving weekend is one of the busiest travel periods of the year. This year thanksgiving falls on a Thursday 26th November. Not only will ticket prices skyrocket but starting from the 25th airports will be crowded and passengers might face delays and/or cancellations. If you’re in the US on a holiday, best not to plan any flights between the 25th and the 30th as that’s when everyone will be flying back home.

Christmas & New Year’s: The busiest travel days around Christmas start on the 23rd December up until the 26th. According to travel sites, the 27th December is said to be the least hectic travel day around Christmas. Similarly, the 30th is the most hectic, as people travel for New Year’s. The 1st January however, is said to be a quieter travel day.

The best time to book your ticket.

According to travel site Expedia, Tuesdays appear to be the best day to search for and book your ticket. It is also recommended that you delete your browser cookies as travel sites often capture these and might up the fares. The ideal average time to book domestic flights is said to be about 57 days in advance. For international travel the perfect time appears to be approximately 171 days in advance
